How to use the interactive maps
You can select your place of interest by entering a postcode, or selecting a town or village, using the boxes to the left of the page. You can select the map you are interested in from the drop-down list on the left. Below the map is a series of tool buttons that allow you to move around the map and find out more about the information displayed on the map.

Moving around the map
The first three buttons are used for moving around the map. By selecting either of the first two buttons and clicking on the map you can zoom in or zoom out to see more or less detail; by selecting the third button you can "pan" around the map and see surrounding information.

Zoom In
Press this button - it will turn light blue to indicate that it is active.
Move the cursor over the map at the top corner of your required area. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse diagonally to define the area you wish to view. A box will appear showing your selected area. Release the mouse button and your selected area will be displayed.

Zoom Out
Press this button - it will turn light blue to indicate that it is active.
Move the cursor over the map and click the left mouse button once; the map will redraw showing a larger area.

Pan
Press this button - it will turn light blue to indicate that it is active.
Position the cursor over the map, hold down the left mouse button and move the map as required. The map will take a few seconds to redraw.

Extracting information from the map
The fourth button  enables you to find out further information about features on the map. 

Info Tool
Press this button - it will turn light blue to indicate that it is active.
Click on the map on the site of interest. A table will appear providing information about the site. Within these results you may find a globe and magnifier symbol. By selecting this symbol you will be linked to further detailed information.

Meanings of colours and symbols
On different maps, you will see a range of colours and symbols representing different things; the meanings of these are available by looking at the map legend.

Legend
Press this button - a separate window will appear giving the meanings of colours and symbols used on the map.
